Hewland Engineering has completed a multi-million pound investment
Developed as part of its strategic growth roadmap, the new facility expands the company’s capability to deliver end-to-end drivetrain and gearbox solutions across to the aerospace and defence sectors. Well known for its expertise in the racecar automotive sectors, the business sees significant growth opportunities for its technology within the aerospace market.
Part of Hero Motors, the facility and skills investment brings together a comprehensive range of testing capabilities for Hewland, further strengthening the company’s proposition as a supplier capable of taking a product from concept through to manufacturing. Led by technical director Mark Ingram, the team at Hewland’s new technical centre has test rigs at its disposal, capable of fully supporting OEM requirements. Located in the heart of ‘automotive valley’ in the UK, the facility complements Hewland’s well-established Maidenhead HQ.
The centre is a cornerstone of Hewland Engineering’s continued expansion into three key markets – automotive, defence, and aerospace. While Hewland continues to provide transmissions to some of the most successful racing teams worldwide, expansion means the company’s expertise can now be applied across multiple sectors.
Andy Morley, managing director at Hewland Engineering, said: “By investing in the creation of a state-of-the-art technical centre we’re committing to strengthening our OEM offer and attracting the very best engineers. As we evolve to navigate market trends and demands, our investment gives firm foundations to further expand into other markets, while retaining and building our considerable experience across motorsport.”
