Aero Engine Controls has announced plans for a major investment as it moves to brand new facilities in Birmingham. AEC plans to construct a new 250,000 sq ft building as a headquarters, design, development, manufacturing, qualification and R&D facility to house 1,200 employees, with associated expansion space.

Simon Burr, chief executive of Aero Engine Controls, said: “This is the first stage in expanding our capability and building a home for the long-term future of our business.”

Aero Engine Controls is a joint venture between Goodrich and Rolls-Royce and makes electronic and hydro-mechanical control systems for the world’s most advanced aero engines including the Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engine that powers Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner and the Trent XWB that will power the Airbus A350 aircraft currently in development.

The new site is a few miles from the company’s current site in Birmingham.
