    The Midlands Aerospace Alliance exhibited for the first time at the Singapore Airshow 2012. 

    Highlights of the MAA stand were superb displays by member companies Bromford and Nasmyth and a display of the region's new aerospace technology capability exemplified by the MAA's Aerospace Technology Exploitation Programme.

    MAA member Invotec, the UK’s biggest maker of printed circuit boards (PCBs, used in electronics), has been awarded Gold supplier status by BAE Systems. 

    BAE Systems said "Invotec's Gold Award is well deserved and recognises sustained excellence in delivery and quality performance. Their contribution and commitment are a significant contributor in BAE Systems’ ability to deliver on its own customer commitments."

  • 24 Nov 2011Arrowsmith's £1m revamp

    MAA member Arrowsmith Engineering is targeting a £4m turnover figure, up from £1.8m, after investing more than £1m into new headquarters and machinery.

    Arrowsmith said it had won a string of new orders to produce complex engine and actuation parts for Rolls-Royce, Goodrich, Pattonair and Meggitt.

  • 27 Sep 2011Midlands technology for Boeing 787

     

    Midlands aerospace hails Boeing's delivery of the new 787 aircraft to the first airline customer, ANA of Japan.

    The aircraft incorporates critical Midlands technologies including: Rolls-Royce's fuel-efficient Trent 1000 engines, Aero Engine Controls' sophisticated electronic controls for the Trent 1000 and Moog Aircraft Group's high-lift actuation system that controls the aircraft wings flaps and slats for take-off and landing.

    Aero Engine Controls has announced plans for a major investment as it moves to brand new facilities in Birmingham.

    AEC plans to construct a 250,000 sq ft building as a headquarters, design, development, manufacturing, qualification and R&D facility to house 1,200 employees, with associated expansion space.

  • 20 Sep 2011Comar's Goodrich C-Series order

     

    MAA member Comar Engineering has won a large order for test rigs from Goodrich Actuation Systems for the Bombardier C-Series programme.

    According to Comar's Stuart Martin: "This fantastic order comes as a result of our excellent performance on the A350 project where Comar produced the TRAS rigs for both production and systems simulation on the A350 Iron Bird at Airbus in Toulouse."

  • 1 Aug 2011New Moog facility opens soon

     

    Work is well under way on Moog Aircraft Group's new facilities at the prestigious i54 development site near Wolverhampton.

    Moog Business Leader Stuart Mclachlan, who is also a Midlands Aerospace Alliance director, says: "this is a key strategic move for Moog, and when completed this world class facility will allow the business to support and grow our market leading position in actuation systems.”
