More orders for Trent engines

Air China has selected Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engines for 15 new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.

Air China has selected Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engines for 15 new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.

The decision continues a strong relationship between the engine maker and the airline, which has 49 Trent 700-powered Airbus A330 aircraft in service, with four to be delivered, and ten Trent XWB-powered Airbus A350XWB aircraft on order.

John Rishton, Rolls-Royce, Chief Executive Officer, said: “This is a significant selection by a valued customer and we look forward to continuing to strengthen our relationship with Air China. The Trent 1000 offers operators outstanding lifetime fuel burn performance and reliability on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.”

Rolls-Royce powered the very first Boeing 787 test flight in December 2009, the first 787-8 to enter service in October 2011, and the first 787-9 to enter service, in 2014.
